I was able to meet Doug and Linda while I was setting up and I knew I was going to have a good time.  Doug joked around with me a little bit and made sure I’d be taken care of throughout the night.

The night was filled with joy and happiness with all the friends and family celebrating Doug and Linda’s special night.  There were toasts, a special presentation from all their grandchildren, a video slideshow, great food and drinks, and of course, dancing!

Doug was insistent on having everyone dance on the dance floor when the time came.  He particularly wanted to teach everyone how to Dougie.  Haha!

I dropped by after my meeting with my school counselor and was immediately nostalgic of DJ’ing breaks for live b-boys.  It’s a DJ’s high.  I immediately asked the professor if I could spin next week’s session and he was all for it.

The professor, Joe Knox, teaches this b-boy class along with some other music classes at UCI.  I’m hoping to work with him a lot more in the future in terms of music and rockin’ some more live music!

All the hard work paid off.  The venue was absolutely stunning.

The night was filled with good food, drinks, and people.  There was also a beautiful slideshow presentation that Haley’s sister put together for everyone to enjoy.  I was excited to get everyone dancing on the dance floor shortly after the toasts.

Costa Mesa High hired me for a nice and simple dance party.  It was great.  The students were ready to get down as soon as they walked in the door.  I played everything from hip hop, pop, to electro.

I was talking about this idea for a mixtape for quite some time now.  It was tough because I wanted to do so much with it but still keep the smooth westcoast vibe throughout.

I finally disciplined myself to sit down and look for a tracklist with my favorite westcoast artist. I opened with Tupac’s “To Live and DIe in LA” because it has that cruisin’ down sunset (liking the scene) vibe. I wanted to throw in Cube’s “It was a Good Day,” but I opted with the just-as-smooth, “You Know How We Do.” The rest of the track list kind of made itself. I really wanted to represent the westcoast G-Funk, Gangsta vibe, and raw talent.

I wanted to throw in some Odd Future and Blu since I put Kendrick Lamar on here–but Odd Future Hits too hard for this mixtape. and I couldn’t find a right place effort Blu.

This event was great. All of the auction items and food were donations. Lots of money was raised to benefit the school.

I really enjoy events like this seeing that I’m an educator myself and understand the need for more resources to provide for students.

The night ended with dancing, some line dancing, and a classic rock set where a party-goer sang the words really well!

She asked me to DJ California School’s 50th Birthday Celebration.

The night was awesome. It began with two openings for the school band. The principal said some words and encouraged everyone to participate in the raffles and food, They also had a raffle for both the students and the parents.

We really lucked out because the southern California storm didn’t hit until the next day.

Maha really knows how to throw a party. There was a bounce house slide, photo booth, Indian catering, pizza for the kids, and of course, five costume characters.

It was great working with the Star Wars characters. They really knew how to lead the party and get the kids involved in activities.

Robin left me a voicemail that morning describing her son’s musical taste. I was excited to see that Liam enjoys listening to Wu Tang Clan, Odd Future, and Murs. I knew I was going to give a memorable party—especially on Saint Patrick’s Day!

The night began with Liam coming home from work expecting to go to dinner, but instead he was surprised by all of his friends waiting in his living room.

The night was awesome. Liam liked the beginning of my set as I played hip hop that I rarely get to play and music that I knew he’d enjoy, too.

The party got pretty crazy and everyone was enjoying my set. I bounced from hip hop to electronic throughout the night and I had everyone consistently on the dance floor. I tottally caught the crowd by surprise by playing a variety instead of one or the eother.

He specifically asked for a lot of classic rock, especially Led Zeppelin.

The night was perfect. It was on the colder side, but I came prepared with a heavy coat with a cardigan underneath. The rest of the party had heaters and beverages to keep them warm.
